Baldwin Model 6000 Concert Vertical 52" Piano
The Baldwin Piano & Organ company was established the year 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio by Dwight Hamilton Baldwin, a piano, reed organ, and violin teacher. Mr. Baldwin vowed to build "the best piano that could be built" and he succeeded quite well, in their prime Baldwin was a close rival to Steinway & Sons. They boasted a huge roster of endorsing artist including the composer Igor Stravinsky. Unfortunately in 2008 Baldwin ceased all production in the USA due to rising labor cost and competition caused by new imported pianos.
The Model 6000 Concert Vertical was Baldwin's flagship upright piano. It features top quality components like 100% virgin wool hammers, Hard Rock Maple bridge, action, and pinblock. The massive 2,376 sq.in soundboard and ribs are made of premium solid Sitka Spruce. The piano itself is over 100 lbs heavier than a comparable 52" piano. This is due to the iron plate being made in the traditional wet-sand casting method - which produces a stronger and denser plate.
This one is in amazing condition, the hammers and felt are very new and show little wear. The tone can be described as characteristically American with bell-like trebles and a rich warm tenor-bass.
This is great alternative to for considering a Yamaha U3 or a Steinway K52!
