The Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co was established in 1927 by Koichi Kawai an apprentice of Torakusu Yamaha (founder of Yamaha) in the city of Hamamatsu, Japan. They are currently the 2nd largest piano manufacturer in Japan and have developed a reputation for making high quality instruments that are sought after by decerning musicians worldwide.
Kawai's K5 50" model has a host of features such as their proprietary composite Millenium III action which is said to be more responsive and durable than traditional wood action. Other features include duplex scale (fore), Mahogany under-felted hammers, inverse tone release port, NEOTEX key surface, solid Sitka Spruce soundboard, and double brass casters for easy repositioning.
The tone of this piano is rich and warm with a singing treble and a particularly powerful bass due in part to the extended speaking length of the strings. The action feels responsive and consistent throughout the entire range.The condition of this piano is excellent. The hammers and felt are clean and very new.
