Yamaha WX7 52" Upright Piano W/Dampp Chaser Humidity Control

The Yamaha Music Corporation was established in 1887 by reed organ maker Torakusu Yamaha in the city of Hamamatsu, Japan. Since then they have become the largest and arguably the most famous manufacturer of musical instruments in the world. They have and continue to produce some of the most sought-after acoustic and digital pianos in the industry.

 

The WX7 was Yamaha’s flagship 52” upright piano made specifically for the North American market. It had special features like “X” shaped back-post, agraffes, premium hammers, tone release ports, a true Sostenuto pedal, and a grand piano style fallboard. When sold new in the 90’s they retailed for over $17,000 which is almost $40,000 in today's money. This model was actually discontinued because of how expensive it was to produce, and the low amount of people who could afford to buy one. Finding one in the used market is extremely difficult because of the extremely low number of WX7’s that were made.

 

This particular example is in pristine condition. The hammers and felt are clean and show no signs of wear. The action is fluid and responsive. The treble has nice clarity without being overly bright and the bass/tenor is rich and warm. Its been fitted with a Dampp Chaser Humidity Controller System to keep the piano in top performance condition, an extra feature that normally costs over $1500.
