Torrefied European Spruce

As a guitar top, European spruce is powerful like Adirondack, clear like Sitka, and complex and responsive like Engelmann, all of which are employed in various Breedlove guitar lines. Torrefied European spruce graces the Artista, Performer and Signature Series in Breedlove’s new Organic Collection. Torrefaction, a thermal process that artificially ages the wood while also turning it more resilient, makes these instruments explode with vintage tone, singing like an old friend that’s been played by a master for 30 years. With the Organic Collection three years in the making, Breedlove owner Tom Bedell literally climbed a mountain to be positive that the exotic FSC-certified tonewoods used in the assortment are harvested in responsible ways that respect the earth, while providing for superior tone that will last a lifetime. High in the windblown Swiss Alps, Bedell watched as European spruce trees were individually selected—each yielding many dozens of top sets—with an eye towards keeping the old growth stands robust for decades to come.

Sustainable Myrtlewood Back & Sides

Popularized by Breedlove, myrtlewood from the windblown Oregon coast combines the best elements of rosewood, mahogany and maple—rich bass, warm midrange and clear, bright trebles—for truly versatile guitars. Each sonically distinct instrument is individualized by the gnarled, wildly varied, but always stunning grain patterns.

Concert Body Shape

The Concert is Breedlove's most popular body shape, favored by players because it is well-balanced, compact, comfortable to play, and offers all the qualities of a great sounding guitar. It generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt.
