Lesson Policies

At Excel Music we want all students and teachers have a enjoyable time together during lessons so we have created some policies to help facilitate a fun and professional environment.

Enrollment and Payment:

  • Lessons are prepaid monthly with lesson fees due for the upcoming month on the last week. Upcoming lessons will not be booked until payment is received.
  • Monthly pre-authorized payments are recommended.
  • No registration fees for private lessons.
  • Parents of students under 18 are required to sign the enrollment form.
  • Yearly enrollment (with a discount) is available.

Lateness, Missed Lessons, and Make-up lessons:

  • Students should do their best to arrive to their lessons on time. If a student arrives late, they will receive the remainder of their lesson time.
  • A 24 hour notice is required if a student is unable to make a scheduled lesson in order for us to schedule a make-up lesson or offer a lesson credit. Exceptions to this rule can be made for emergencies.
  • If a teacher is unable to make a scheduled lesson, Excel Music will make alternative arrangements including make up lessons (in which another teacher may be called in to substitute), or giving lesson credits.
  • Unexplained absences (failing to show up/cancelling at last minute) are not eligible for make-up lessons.

IMPORTANT! Music Lesson Discontinuation and Cancellation Policy:

  • All music lessons are final sale and non-redeemable for refunds. If a student wishes to discontinue music lessons, they will need to finish the remaining balance of their lessons.

Inclement and Bad Weather:

  • Excel Music is committed to student and teacher safety. If a lesson cannot happen due to severe weather, we will inform all teachers and students/parents involved and reschedule lessons. Rescheduled lessons can also be done online
  • We are committed to following guidelines/warnings issued by Environment Canada and the Peel District School Board for severe weather.

Online lessons:

  • Online Lessons will be done through Zoom or another online video-conferencing application. Once scheduled, the student/parent will receive a Zoom Link with instructions for all pre-lesson set up and how to join.
  • A USB Microphone and a wired ethernet connection is strongly recommended to ensure the best sound quality and video streaming.
  • Parental/Guardian supervision is needed for all students under 9 who are taking online lessons.
  • A quiet room with few distractions is recommended to get the most out of the lessons.
  • Online lessons follow the same payment structure as in-class lessons.
